A Place Called Home
A Place Called Home (APCH) is dedicated to empowering the youth of South Los Angeles by providing a safe and nurturing environment. The organization offers comprehensive programs in education, arts, mental health, and career readiness to help young people overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. APCH’s mission includes fostering personal development, promoting nonviolence, and encouraging community involvement, ultimately guiding youth toward success and positive social impact.
One to One Children’s Fund
The One to One Children’s Fund’s “First 1,000 Days” initiative focuses on improving the health and development of impoverished children in Africa during their critical early years. The program provides proactive healthcare and support to vulnerable mothers and children, significantly reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission. It also empowers local women to deliver essential services and equips parents with tools to foster early childhood development, aiming for long-term, sustainable impact within the local community and now prides expertise and training to centers around the world.
Jewish Federation of Los Angeles
The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is dedicated to creating a vibrant, secure, and connected Jewish community in Los Angeles, Israel, and globally. It focuses on fighting poverty to a broad population of all creeds and groupings, combating antisemitism, and fostering Jewish identity and leadership. Through partnerships and community engagement, the Federation works to ensure a thriving Jewish future while providing care and support for those in need. It also supports the needy and the powerless in the greater Los Angeles area and around the world.
Moshava Alevy
Moshava Alevy operates at the Dovid Oved Retreat Center, a beautiful 78-acre campus in the picturesque San Bernardino mountains. Moshava Alevy aims to strengthen the relationship between youth, their Jewish identity, and the land of Israel. Through immersive, year-round programs, the camp promotes a deep connection to Jewish heritage, its values and community. Moshava Alevy provides a supportive environment where campers can grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially. There is a large emphasis on caring for the disabled and challenged community. The center used by a wide variety of organizations throughout the year.
Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles
Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles aims to develop the next generation of leaders within the Jewish community through year-round educational programming. By fostering a deep love for all things Jewish, the organization empowers youth to become active contributors and leaders. High schoolers often take on leadership roles, guiding younger participants and reinforcing the treasured values.
The Zeits Foundation
The Zeitz Foundation is committed to promoting sustainable development through its “4C” philosophy: Conservation, Community, Culture, and Commerce. The organization supports projects that protect biodiversity, enhance community well-being, preserve cultural heritage, and encourage sustainable commerce. Their mission is to create a lasting, positive impact on the environment and society by fostering holistic and inclusive approaches to conservation and development. The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is a public non-profit museum in Cape Town, South Africa. Zeitz MOCAA opened on September 22, 2017 as the largest museum of contemporary African art.
Food on Foot
Food on Foot is dedicated to helping unhoused and low-income individuals in Los Angeles by providing nutritious meals, clothing, and a path to self-sufficiency. Their programs include a weekly meal distribution and a Jobs & Housing program, which offers life-skills training, full-time employment, and permanent housing to help participants reintegrate into society with confidence. The organization aims to address the root causes of homelessness and support individuals in building stable, independent lives.
The Cornerstone Village
The Cornerstone Village is an inclusive community in Los Angeles that empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental differences to live independently. The organization promotes active and healthy living through a variety of supportive services and programs tailored to residents’ needs. It aims to create a model of disability acceptance and community integration that can be replicated nationwide.
The MAA Trust
The Maa Trust works with community-owned conservancies in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, to enhance the benefits of conservation for local Maasai families. The organization focuses on empowering communities through education, sustainable livelihoods, and promoting conservation practices that ensure the long-term protection of wildlife and natural resources. Their approach includes directly involving local people in decision-making and providing opportunities for economic development, ultimately fostering self-reliance and conservation awareness.
Our Big kitchen LA
Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA) is a community-run, non-denominational kitchen that prepares and distributes nutritious meals to those in need across Los Angeles. The organization empowers volunteers to make a positive impact by cooking high-quality, kosher meals, which are then distributed by charity partners to various social service organizations. OBKLA aims to address food insecurity while fostering a sense of community and purpose among volunteers.
